Not just a pain in the you-know-what,                      but maybe in your back, hips, shoulders,              or your neck?

What if sitting upright could be

supremely comfortable?

The good news is—

  it can be!

Hi there!

I'm Kathleen Porter ~

Even as a yoga teacher and massage therapist, I often experienced chronic tension and pain in my body.

My life changed dramatically when I learned that I could arrange my own skeleton the way healthy babies and toddlers do when figuring out how to balance upright—first by sitting, then standing, and, finally, walking and running.

It's our natural, innate human design!

That was 25 years ago, and now at age 74, I'm still reaping the benefits of knowing this.

When re-learning how to inhabit our body naturally, we start, just as babies do, with sitting up. That's where Sitting Pretty™ comes in.

Sitting Pretty™ is a video mini course

that guides you through a step-by-step process for re-aligning

your framework of support (your skeleton) from the bottom up (literally!).

Think architectural structure that walks, talks, and is  . . . alive.

Before we dive into the details

let me tell you WHO Sitting Pretty™ is FOR.

Sitting Pretty ™ is for  YOU

if you struggle to sit comfortably and often feel stiff or sore from sitting.

It helps to know it's not sitting, in and of itself, but HOW we sit that's at the root of so many pain problems.

Knowing how to sit well also sets the stage for learning how to stand, walk, bend, and move with ease.

Sitting Pretty™  is for YOU

if you're not getting any younger and you've begun to worry about your slowly collapsing posture as you age.

You wonder if you're doomed to keep shrinking with each passing year. (HINT:  You're not! : )

The GOOD NEWS is it's never too late to learn how to sit well and begin new improvements.

Sitting Pretty ™  is for YOU

if you're a health professional, a yoga teacher, or fitness coach who chose this work to help others.

Yet, when your patients, clients, or students don't find lasting relief from chronic pain of unknown origin, you're at a loss to know what to do next. Fortunately, you can learn to empower them by providing the tools they need to know how to better help themselves.

Yes, please! I'd like to pay $39

The people pictured here all sit with solidly upright, relaxed ease.

Healthy, well-developing babies are able to balance upright when they discover the internal point of balance where their bones are aligned in relationship to the vertical axis.

Many people who grow up and live in traditional, native cultures maintain this alignment throughout their lives—even into old age.

It's the magic secret sauce to living pain-free, with inherent flexibility, strength and enduring vitality.

Nothing is more empowering than knowing how to be in charge of how you feel.

SITTING PRETTY gives you the tools you need to know how to align your skeleton so that you can feel—and look—your best!

Healthy children are innately "happy dogs" in the way they figure out how to inhabit their upright bodies.

And yes, this is a course about sitting,

but it's really about so much more!

— You'll be guided through a step-by-step process of learning how to align your bones according to our human design.

— You'll re-discover the strong, yet relaxed, middle way that exists between slouching (sad dogs) and tense over-correction (tense dogs). Chances are you once knew this way of sitting as small child—so how hard can it be, right?

— Your muscles won't complain so much, now that your bones are doing their assigned job of providing the underlying framework of support.

— You'll be taking that first giant step forward on the path of transforming your body from longstanding habits and patterns of tension, stiffness, pain, disconnection, structural collapse, overcorrection . . . the list goes on.

Here's what else you'll learn in SITTING PRETTY™

You will also learn:

  • the ergonomic details of working at a computer, so that sitting is comfortable and effortless, instead of a pain in the back, neck, shoulders, wrists or . . . .
  • how to sit on the floor to meditate and how to use pillows or blankets, as needed, to relieve tight hips and help support relaxed uprightness, instead of struggling to find peace in your body/mind.
  • how to sit while driving your car, so that driving is something you enjoy, instead of something you dread.
  • how to lean back against a backrest, while maintaining the integrity of a naturally elongated spine, instead of slouching when you try to "relax."

Are you ready to start relying

on your bones,

instead of straining muscles

to hold you up?

Sitting Pretty™ is brand new, so here's a sampling of what people have to say about my workshops and courses.

Repositioning my bones brings an immediate feeling of relief and relaxation.

Now whenever I notice I'm stressed or in some unpleasant mood state, I check out my alignment. As a shrink, I ask myself if some of the symptoms my patients experience could be caused by the constant muscle tension of living in an unaligned body.

Taking Kathleen’s Alignment Basics workshop changed my life.

At 67, I was experiencing neck, shoulder, and knee pain that worsened with age and seemed chronic. The pain melted away, along with what felt like a lifetime’s worth of stored tension.  I began performing life’s daily activities—bending, squating, climbing stairs, reading in bed—in total comfort again.

The biomechanics of the course, coupled with her passion and grace made this the best!

Excellent! I encourage more courses from her for she inspires easy, wonderful learning.

How is this different from other approaches to "good posture,"

and

what makes this so effective?

Your body's design is not random.

Nature intended it to be comfortable and pain-free.

The human design requires a specific structural alignment that conforms to natural laws that govern architecture and engineering, as well as the biomechanical design of all other animal species.

This explains why this woman—and many young children throughout the world—are able to carry heavy loads on the heads without strain. The weight of the load is distributed through bones that are aligned along the vertical axis of gravity, or plumb line.

If you're wondering what carrying a heavy load on your head has to do with sitting, it's helpful to know that sitting is the same as standing—without legs! Same aligned spine, same solid uprightness!

No one needs to carry a load on their head, but we can learn details of alignment from people who successfully distribute weight through their spines, without ever having to consciously know this is what they're doing.

"Wow! This makes so much sense!"

I hear this a lot when people first grasp these concepts. And it's true, it does make perfect sense that we would have a structural design that's in keeping with the same rules of Nature that apply to all other animal species and . . . everything else in our world.

What a giant game-changer it is to learn how to be in charge of how you feel.

Here's what to expect as you go through Sitting Pretty™

Step 1

Lay the Foundation

When constructing any architectral structure (such as a human body), it just makes sense that we start with the foundation, by learning how to solidly plant your pelvis.

Step 2

Grow the Tree

The spine is the trunk of the tree, the under-lying structural  frame-work that defines uprightness, while serving as a channel of communication between body and brain.

Step 3

Get Your Head on Straight

When the the skeleton below is aligned along the vertical axis, your head is able to balance delicately on top, so the the neck and shoulders are free from unnecessary tension.

Step 4

10-Second Shortcut

You'll learn to apply all this quickly to any sitting situation, wherever you happen to be. I'll guide you through a 30-second, then 20-second, and, finally, the 10-second short-cut.

I was a long-time yoga teacher and massage therapist who was plagued with recurring pain.

In the years since I first was introduced to the work of Noelle Perez by Jean Couch, I've traveled widely, seeking out women (and children) who successfully carry heavy loads on their heads, sometimes for decades. I also sought out oldsters (like myself ; ) who have aged with easy flexibility and enduring vitality.

I've written books about natural alignment, taught "happy dog" sitting in elementary classrooms, and shared these principles with thousands of people in the classes and workshops I have taught.

Now that I'm in my mid-70s, I'm still enjoying the benefits.

This is what drives my passion to share this overlooked and misunderstood information with anyone who wants to learn this.

I hope this means YOU!

I'm confident you'll benefit greatly from learning this!

Her work, to me, has been personally transformative.

Kathleen Porter's observation of peoples around the world who retain their natural alignment, relaxation and movement is a clear window into the healing of the chronic pain syndromes of our culture.

After years of studying various kinds of bodywork in order to correct my scoliosis, in these 5 days, I’ve learned profound yet simple, easy to apply tools that have virtually relaxed my spine and posture almost overnight.

If this training was incorporated into public schools and yoga training, our society would discover a whole new comfort and ease with ourselves.

In spite of a lengthy yoga practice, I was still in pain.

Kathleen seemed to have a new approach, so I signed on. This has been the most valuable workshop I have ever taken, and I hope it will be repeated here at Omega next year. Everything immediately made sense and I have been feeling an enormous release from my chronic pain.

 No surgery! Can you imagine?!

I am so grateful we were put in the same place so I could benefit from this pain-free way of living. The depth and breadth of this presentation is by far the best I have ever seen. You have mastered the art of communicating the information. Just by the common sense of its architecture, the body becomes the star!
